Pain and fire.
That is my life.
That and darkness.
Moments of numbness would quell my body from the acidic flames coursing through my veins but they never lasted long enough to do anything besides tease my mind into hoping it was over. My mind retraced the events leading me into this, a giant, a building and the colour green was all that could come to mind. Sometimes in the darkness I could hear voices, blurred like I was lying in the bottom of a pool of water, distant and hazy. Some voices were familiar, telling me to wake up; others were cold and professional, commenting on my status.
Darkness again.

I open my eyes in a dark room, the smell of disinfectant and lemon pledge fill the air as the fain glow of a heart monitor lit the room. I look down at my body; parts of me were hooked to the computer while the other half was red and crusted over with scabs. I resisted the urge to peel and scratch at the blemishes instead sitting myself up, my body felt heavy and clumsy with what could be weeks of just lying there while my head was light and empty with hunger. I fumbled clumsily around for the button that summoned a member of staff before heading to the toilet in my room. I skipped checking my face in the mirror, no need to make matters worse. When I got out of the bathroom I blinked in the dizzying light and when my eyes adjusted they settled on a woman in Death Hospital scrubs reading my chart, she sat me down with a tray of gelatin, boiled chicken and potato’s with orange juice. I was so hungry I ignored the taste as she informed me that due to a poison in my target’s claws, I had been unconscious for about a month or so, I had antidote after antidote piled up with blood transfusions to save my life while apparently the mark where the corruption spreaded blistered and bled. Most doctors were on their way to giving up, but a few continued, either out of a sense of duty or compassion I assumed. I thanked her for her help and asked her if I could call home. To my surprise she turned down my option instead telling me I had to do some blood tests to make sure I was clear, a nurse would call my family instead.

And so, after they took my blood and gave me a cookie I sat on my bed flipping through channels on the T.V, piecing together what I could and digesting what I knew. A shot of guilt ran through my body over the realization that I never asked about how Blaize was doing, if he was even alive, I shot up from my bed and made a beeline for the door, throwing it open I walked up to the first nurse I could find and asked her about Blaize, but just my luck she didn't speak English and soon beckoned on with rudimentary skills in the language, who even then couldn't understand what I was asking. Just my luck to find myself stuck in a hospital where the main language was German.
